About

The Borough of Dormont is currently raising money for the Next Generation Playground. Our Council created the Park Sustainability Fund in 2024 to help fund projects such as the Next Generation Playground and provide residents and friends of Dormont the opportunity to contribute to the future of recreation in the community.

About the Next Generation Playground Project

The Dormont Next Generation Playground is a community-driven project in Dormont, Pennsylvania, aimed at replacing and modernizing the borough’s playground facilities with an inclusive, engaging space for children and families. This initiative builds on the momentum from the removal of the older Castle Playground—decommissioned due to safety concerns—and reflects the borough’s commitment to creating a safe, fun, and sustainable play environment. The project has been organized with robust public engagement, including surveys and community events where local residents, especially kids, can provide input on equipment preferences and overall design themes.

Funding for the Next Generation Playground is being supported through the Dormont Park Sustainability Fund, created by the Borough Council in 2024 to underwrite projects that enhance local recreational spaces. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible, and the borough has actively sought contributions from residents, businesses, and community partners to bring the vision to life. Through ongoing Playground Chronicles updates and in-person engagement events, the project team continues to share progress and gather feedback, ensuring that the playground reflects the community’s needs and aspirations.

At its core, the Next Generation Playground is more than just play equipment—it represents a place for memories, physical activity, and neighborhood connection. Once completed, it is expected to offer a variety of play features such as swings, slides, and other creative elements designed with input from children themselves. By involving the community at every step and building upon Dormont’s tradition of public spaces that foster joy and inclusivity, the project is shaping up to be a cherished asset for future generations of families in the borough.
